Cairns...I have a house!

Hi guys. It's been a long time since you have heard from me. I find it hard to access the computer at work, which leaves internet cafes. They are mainly in town or impossible sometimes, which is very frustrating. I am looking into a lap top at the moment so hopefully it will be easier to stay in touch.

This is Doughnut. She is 14 years old and the pet dog of Yvonne 'Cookie' Cook. Pretty cute, huh?

Cookie also owns Moo, this adorable bitza who looks like a Tonkinese or Siamese. He is really affectionate and very 'dog-like' in his personality. He loves to sleep on my bed with me.

It is seriously like 'The Castle" at Cookies'. This is their house from the bottom of their garden. ("Do you know anything about lead?")

Work has been long in hours, hence the lack of communication, but I enjoy it and my boss is the best boss I have ever worked for. We went out Friday for lunch - Steve paid for everything...drinks, food. Then we went on to bars and nightclubs and he continued to pay and then caught a taxi home, and, yes you guessed it...he paid for it. He is very generous, encouraging and trusting me in terms of tasks he gives me to do. He praises me a lot which is really quite a changed environment from teaching. It doesn't pay as well but is less hours and my pay will go up to about 85% of what I was on as a teacher.

Lots of my work at the moment entails writing real estate ads and uploading to a website. "Rainforested Tranquilty" and the like. It's fun. I like playing with words and 'romancing' the reader as Steve puts it.

We have a long weekend here due to the Cairns Show and today has been perfect as you can see from the above photo.

The big news is that I have a unit to move into on 29 July. Only 9 days to go! I cannot wait. The thrill of travel and living out of bags has left me now and I am keen to put my toothbrush in a toothbrush holder.

The next post will hopefully have photos of the unit. It is more like a half house, attached to another house. It is in a lush tropical jungle style garden complex. It faces the communal pool and has a small patio for BBQs etc. I have a flatmate who is already there. His name is Scotty and if he lets me, I'll post a photo of him.

All for now. Hope you are all well and that the teachers out there are rested and ready to kick arse!
